IX Shells

(Panama l 1990)

IX Shells, is a self-taught Panamanian artist and programmer. By playing video games during her childhood, Ella Yard was able to tap into her creativity, sparking a deep fascination with coding at a young age. By combining her observations of patterns in nature with her appreciation of Brutalist architecture, Yard allowed the computer research to act as a digital simulation of an extension within her mind, ultimately translating into generative art. While her creations represent a visual interpretation of the physical world, Yard intends each work as a metaphor for inner exploration. This narrative is written within her works via lines of code, acting as a context-based portrait of what she is experiencing at the time.
