Helen Mirra

(United States l 1970)

Helen Mirra’s work is at the crossroads of several influences, including Arte Povera, Fluxus, and Concrete Poetry. She uses simple materials (felt, wool, cotton, wood), recovered items (clothes, pallets), and objects found in nature (stones, pinecones). These elements, chosen for their intrinsic qualities, are generally subjected to minimal transformations excluding industrial techniques. Mirra identifies with Buddhism and pragmatist philosophies. Since 2008 her art practice has been associated with walking.
