Ana Mendieta

(Cuba-United States | 1948-1985)

Ana Mendieta was a prolific and multidisciplinary artist who explored exile, displacement, and connection to the land. These themes remain current to this day. In the Siluetas series, Mendieta related her body to the landscape, frequently transformed by natural elements like fire or water. She dedicated a decade of her life to creating art in motion, producing over a hundred images that traveled the world. Since her death, world-class museums have recognized her work in six retrospectives.
